So you think Yoga will help?

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced Yoga along with Transcendental Meditation to the Western world as a religious exercise and philosophy. As most people were skeptical, the Maharishi revamped the movement, marketing it as a scientifically sound, non-religious psychological exercise designed to relieve stress, and to bring peace to what he described as the inner man. It was promoted as having a positive effect on society and enabling the advanced practitioner to participate in astral projection (described as a person's soul leaving the body) and levitation.*

Let me tell you the story of my friend 'Sonia' who became a passionately exciting Christian, when I first met her. After the birth of her third child, Sonia decided to join the local Yoga class to get her figure back and de-stress. She returned to class the second week to tell her teacher that when practising her exercises on her bed she had an 'out of body experience'. Her teacher praised her and informed her she must be a very good student!

A couple of weeks later she became aware of a 'spirit-being' in her kitchen and she called me for help. We met up with another couple of Christian girls who know their Bibles well, and together we prayed for Sonia. She was delivered of strong lying demons that were determined to hold back her new found relationship with Jesus Christ. She had joined the class in all innocence but had given these lying spirits an opening to restrict her growth as a Christian and ultimately to even destroy her.

Proverbs 14:12; There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way that leads to death.

Proverbs 16:25 (Msg); There’s a way that looks harmless enough; look again — it leads straight to hell.

Most people practising Yoga today are totally unaware of its religious (not Christian) roots. Jesus Christ is almost totally ignored, although this Maharishi teaches that anyone can become as enlightened as Jesus Christ through Transcendental Meditation techniques. But this ignores the Truth that Jesus Christ is the unique Son of God, who together with God the Father and the Holy Spirit make up the Trinity; salvation is by grace through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. The religion in Yoga replaces resurrection with reincarnation, and both grace and faith with human good works.

The Truth of peace with God is not achieved by looking inside oneself but by looking up to Him of whom Moses and the prophets wrote, ‘Jesus of Nazareth, the Son and Christ of God’. Receiving the gift of eternal life is only achieved through the shed Blood of Jesus Christ. Only then can we live the life that God has planned for us by walking in the power of the Holy Spirit. We then see His fruit in our lives: 'Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control,' Galatians 5:22-23.

'Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Holy Spirit' Galatians 5:25.

For an exciting and challenging testimony about why I do NOT practise Yoga, please see www.PraiseMoves.com. This is certainly worth a read.

'My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.' Hosea 4:6.
